Keynote address:
New trends and standards for printed circuit board testing

Abstract:
As Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) become more and more complex with increasing clock frequencies and decreasing times to market, efficient test methods become a crucial part of the production process. Actually there occurs a shift from traditional intrusive board access methods like flying probe to Embedded System Access (ESA) methods like Boundary Scan (BS) technologies. BS methods opened new possibilities for structural tests since they were standardized at the end of last century but have reached their limits now because of the low speed caused by long scan chains. To overcome this, new standards were developed and published in 2014 and 2015, defining new access methods via chip embedded instruments. The talk will give an overview of these new methods and actual research results in this area.

Heinz-Dietrich WUTTKE is a senior researcher and lecturer, Department of Computer Science & Automation, TU Ilmenau, Germany. His current research interests are in the areas of design and test of digital systems, automatic test equipment, field programmable gate arrays, and embedded test instruments but also in the field of electronic engineering education with focus on technology enhanced learning, learning analytics, and remote laboratories. Dr. Wuttke has published more than 50 papers in the last 5 years in the above mentioned research areas. He has written a book about automata based design of digital systems and some contributions to books about technology based learning. Actually he is involved in three EC- founded projects and leads two national founded projects in cooperation with partners from the industry. Born in Germany in 1953, he received his Diploma and Ph.D. from the TU Ilmenau in 1976 and 1983 respectively. Dr. Wuttke is a Member of the German Informatics Society and the vice president for educational affairs of the International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE). Dr. Wuttke teaches Computer Organization, Development of Integrated Hardware/ Software Systems as well as Testing of Digital Systems.
